Just like Goran described, the manager's attitude is quite awful. The whole night we stayed in that restaurant, all the waiting staff are just ingore lower spending customer, whether they willing to come here again or not? What such a awful Hongkong Style service. The food is quite taste and special but with unresonable price. Is that reasonalbe price for such kind of service or we need to order more to grab better service? Not recommanded.

Goran,

I am a uni student too, I agree $35.00 (food & drinks) in fine dining is a bit expensive for student. However if you can find any fine dining restaurant in melbourne with good food and 5 stars service and cost around $25.00 to $30.00 per person, please let me know and I am planning to have my birthday party soon.

The restaurant provides a unique environment to eat in, not like ordinary Chiniese restaurants. Staffs are friendly and helpful. House-special dinner dishes including typhoon prawns (Manager Joe's recommendation), fresh from oven peking duck and award winning entree dish prawn-in-the-pond are just the few fansinating dishes on their menu. Good value for money, and will for sure go back and try again!

I have been to East imperial a couple of times before and I have to say that I was very satisfied with the food and services there. I was at the scene with my family at that night and I would like to rebut for the manager. It was clearly there would be a weekend minimum charge (as far as I concern it's a reasonable $35 per head) at such a fine restaurant, not a pizza shop (as do many other restaurants) and I believe ordering drinks is a must for many customers. Maybe not everyone can afford a $60 dinner, but it seems to the manager (and to us as well) that Goran and their friends just wanted to find a place to chill and enjoy their cake on the night rather than really spending any money on food and drinks at the restaurant, and I don't think picking the restaurant with price out of the budget is not the restaurant's or the manager's fault.

Their food is uber delicious! I have had great experience with their service too. The last time I ate there, their staff provided me with the best hospitality. I've had a lot of Chinese food before, but this one takes the cake! I always have to make time to stop in to this place for a good meal!!

I had Yum Cha with my family last week. The food was so tasty and some of the food are very special that I never had it from the other restautant. Variety choice of food, staff was nice and friendly. We will come back again.
