The restaurant looked busy from the outside so we assumed it was good.

The cabbage was cooked with rotten vegetables. Would not recommend at all.

This is one of the busiest places I have ever eaten at. There are five or six groups lining up to eat here on a Friday or Saturday night! They do try to turn the tables over quickly, but never have an issue if you sit there for a while after they've taken your plate away. They certainly have never taken my drink away before I finished it! I seem to end out eating here every week now, I love the food so much. Try the spicy chicken - not actually too spicy, just the right amount of kick (I don't love spicy food). And their specialyty is the lemongrass chicken or pork that they serve with a fried egg. This is not a typical Australian restaraunt that makes you wait 45 mins for food and then lets you sit there for 2 hours chatting afterwards, but they don't make $300 from you either, so what can you expect? Speaking of which, you get a discount on drinks if you order a main meal. And I personally hate that style of dining, and go to the Dessert House because it isn't like that. I love this busy and vivacious place, I hope you do too!

This is the first review i ever wrote for a food place, so you can imagine what an impression they left me.....A VERY BAD ONE!

I have frequented Dessert House a few times before and it has always been a favourite of mine, but i think after they changed management or something, and also changed their name to PANCAKE Dessert House, their food and service also changed for the WORSE! Their service has never been good before, but tonight's service was horrendous!

Firstly, i ordered SPICY pork spare ribs because i ALWAYS have spicy pork spare ribs there and they never disappointed me, but then the one i had tonight wasn't even spicy at all. It tasted as if they did not even add any chilli, so i asked the waiter to ask the kitchen to help me add some chilli flakes or fresh chilli. But then the waiter said they cannot add chilli flakes because they don't have (i gave them the benefit of the doubt) so i asked if i could have more fresh chilli padis. (There were 5 small little cut chilli padis on my spare ribs!) He then told me they cannot add fresh chilli for me, hinting that i had to pay extra just for a little chilli padi to be added!!!! ok never mind...i asked for chilli oil instead, and tried to enjoy my used-to-be-favourite dish.

Then i asked my boyfriend to ask the waitress for a takeaway box, and so my boyfriend signalled for her. AND GUESS WHAT?????? That waitress looked at my boyfriend and gave that kind of WHAT-THE-FUCK-DO-YOU-WANT-LOOK and even did a hand gesture which meant WHAT-THE-FUCK-DO-YOU-WANT?

To make things worse, even though she noticed my boyfriend beckoning her to come over to serve us, SHE WALKED AWAY!!!!

What kind of service is that??????

So i called for her and asked her how come she ignored us when we called for her, and she just gave the ignorant look.

I was seriously very disappointed with the service, and the food too. This place has the worst service i ever experienced in a cafe, and i will NEVER patronise them again. There are other places which serve better food at a cheaper price, and of course with better service.

(I feel better after ranting anyway, thanks)

this has to be one of the worst cheap chinese restaurants in Melbourne. Food was tasteless, service rude in the extreme and a very hostile environment (i actually don't usually mind curt service if the food makes up for it).

There are plenty of other restaurants to try before darkening these doors - not sure why they are so busy?

good cheap food - it costs me around $10 including drink.

My fave is lemongrass pork chop, shark fin soup and watermelon juice.

They are very busy so if you don't want to hurry choose another restaurant. This place is more like order quick, eat quick and leave quick.
